Friedensreich Hundertwasser* - Modern and Contemporary Prints

(Vienna 1928-2000 Pacific Ocean, on board the QE II) "Pintorarium", manifesto published in collaboration with Ernst Fuchs and Arnulf Rainer, 1959, watercolour on offset, 42 x 5 x 117.5 cm, glued and folded as intended, finger marks, minor damage, (EW)

Literature: Corinna Thierolf, Arnulf Rainer Schriften. Selbstzeugnisse und ausgewählte Interviews, Hatje Cantz, published by Ostfildern, 2010

“Written and published as a manifesto in Vienna in 1959. The artists Ernst Fuchs, Hunderwasser and Arnulf Rainer founded the Pintorarium in Vienna on 17 September 1959. The contribution by Hundertwasser clearly outlines its raison d'etre and objectives. It is clear that this was one of the first attempts after WWII to question a linear approach to progressive thinking and acting, as a means of searching for other things, thoughts and ways.” (©Hundertwasser Archive, Vienna)
