white-blue battle flag of the Russian Navy, as well as the red-blue-white merchant marine flag of Gösch, coast and guard tower, porcelain, the body with wide and narrow gilt edging, the rim with brown-gilt painted rosettes and festoons on a white ground, the inside rim with wide gilt edging, the centre with polychromed view, Ø 23,5 cm, painted decoration with scuffing, Sévres, France, blue mark Louis XVIII., for the plate; Manufactory Prince Nikolas Yussupoff, Archangelskoje, Russia, for the painted decoration of the plate, the reverse side bearing the Russian inscription: “View of the Yacht and the village Grusino by the River Wolchowo”, Arhangelskoe 1827, (Ru)

The Porcelain Manufactory of Nikolas Yussupoff existed between 1814–1831 in Archangelskoje. It purchased the unpainted porcelain items from the Sévres Manufactory in France and painted them at Archangelskoje. The above plate is from the series "Views of the Village Grusino”. The village Grusino was considered one of the most beautiful stretches of countryside during the early 19th cent. It is located near Novgorod by the River Wolchowo and belonged to Count Arakcheev, who resided there until his death.
