Saeys was a student of the architectural painter Wilhelm van Ehrenberg in Antwerp. Following a lengthy stay in Malines, he was first recorded in Vienna in 1694. His architectural compositions were often executed in collaboration with such figure painters as Hieronymus Janssens.
