Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 490 x 330 cm, about 1890, at the end of the 19th century the city of Tabriz experienced a successful artistic revival of its carpet production thanks to the master weaver Jalili, the carpets are characterised by an unmistakable colour palette and skilfully executed patterns; the present oversized carpet is one of the early prototypes with brilliant yellow background, expressive medallion and an archaic tree-pattern border, the external secondary borders create a refined reciprocal pattern arrangement, in excellent state of preservation considering its old age, with some low pile areas.
