Gold, cut sapphire, four glazed medallions with locks of hair, each on the back with engraved names of the different children, length ca. 17 cm, overall weight 18 g, 1835, (Lu)
The bracelet was given at Christmas 1835 by Archduke Franz Carl (1802-1878) to his wife Archduchess Sophie. The medallions with the locks of hair are arranged in their order of birth: Franz 1830 (Emperor Franz Joseph I), Max 1832 (Archduke Ferdinand Max, Emperor von Mexiko), Carl 1833 (Archduke Carl Ludwig), Anna 1835 (Archduchess Maria Anna Carolina). Historically significant and very personal object related to the family history of the Austrian imperial house.
Provenance: formerly House of Habsburg.
