A long, narrow piece of bark bast ‘tapa’ (cf. the more detailed explanation in cat. no. 205). The present ‘tapa’ piece displays a natural, light-coloured background, five long black and brown strips of plant pigment. Likely through the use of stencils, negatively contrasting blossom patterns have been serially arranged on these stripes. The narrow, light-coloured trims on both sides include short painted cross lines. A relatively more recent piece, minor age-related damage (cracks). Length: c. 404 cm, Width: c. 94 cm. C. Mid-20th century. (ME)
