The Mambila (and Mfunte), living in the border area between Nigeria and Cameroon, used such iron plates (in this characteristic form) as objects of value and especially between families as pre-monetary payment of the bride price. An old item in perfect condition. No damage. Height: 64.5 cm; width: 23.8 cm; first half of the 20th century. (ME)
