Baule, Ivory Coast: a low chair, assembled from many parts.
A chair of the Baule people, assembled from 6 light-coloured, hard wood pieces and originally dyed black and brown. The thick, smooth seat is lightly retracted along the edges on all sides. The four short round legs and the backrest are sculpturally decorated. An object with old and in part shiny usage patina. No damage. Height: 47 cm (with back), 16 cm (seat); width: 39 cm (backrest), 35 cm (seat); depth: 54 cm (seat). First half of the 20th century. (ME)
