A phallic head-ornament, ‘kallasha’, executed in aluminium ‘waste mould’ casting and fastened through a leather strap onto a polished round disc made of turbo seashell. Such ‘kallasha’ would be fastened to the head with a leather strap and worn on the forehead by important men (warriors, ‘priests’ etc) of the Konso, Gato and Borana peoples in South Ethiopia. Length: 10 cm (in total), diameter: c. 7 cm (padding board). First half to mid-20th century. (ME)
