circular spring movement, 1-2 day movement, quarter-hour striker on bells, enamel dial, iron hands part haematite inlay, glazed chased cast iron bezel, high-quality elegant wood lyre case, ebony veneer, iron appliques and mountings, medallions in "Wedgewood" style, 43,5 cm, Austria ca.1790/1810, signs of age and use, no warranty for function or completeness, 1 repaired pendulum, 1 key, (HP)

Jacob Degen, 1760-1848, important clockmaker, pioneer of flight and inventor, constructor of various flying machines such as ones with flapping wings, air screws, beating wings, first free flight in 1807, in 1813 flight demonstration on the occasion of Napoleon’s birthday in Paris, inventor of forgery-proof banknotes using guilloché engraving.
