The triumphal procession of Ecclesia derives from a series comprising sixteen tapestries which Rubens designed for Archduchess Isabella for the Descalzas Reales monestary in Madrid in 1625. The Museo del Prado in Madrid keeps a preliminary study (Inv. Nr. P01698); a bozzetto is preserved in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge (Inv. Nr. 228).
