South Caucasus, c. 195 x 160 cm, about 1890, Karabakh carpets from Chelaberd with solitary medallion and and roof motifs are also referred to as “Sunburst carpets”, the present piece is in remarkable good state of preservation with extremely high, almost fur-like pile and heavy feel, on both sides horizontally knotted warp threads, interweaving undone in the upper left corner.
