Yellow Marasali,
East Caucasus, c. 138 x 120 cm, second half of the 19th century, the rare Shirvan prayer rugs with unmistakable, bird-like boteh design are attributed to the village of Marasali, on yellow background a “V” shaped arrangement of flowering shrubs in different variations, classic border and gable pattern with the aforementioned effigies of birds, a very similar piece was published by Doris Eder, the large, almost square-shaped format indicates considerable age, very good pile condition, the side edges and both ends with selvedge and knotted warp threads original.
