Southwest Caucasus, c. 262 x 178 cm, end of the 19th century, Kazak carpets with a large white ground central octagon and white squares with star motifs in the ground corners are among the best-known of these rural artifacts, especially noteworthy in the present item is its archaic central field lying entirely on a chequered background, whereas the latter is only just sketched in the spandrels in most pieces, red ground with bright colour condition, animal patterns and a massive yellow-gold main border, a similar carpet with green background was published by Eder, minor signs of wear and minimal damaged areas could be easily repaired.
