Oswald Haertl (Vienna 17.5.1899-9.8.1959 Vienna), architect, designer and architecture lecturer in Austria and Poland; for the decoration of some of the rooms in the Chancellery Building in Vienna, such as the Kreisky Room, the Haertl Room and the Marble Corner Salon (his principal work), Architect Haertl designed furniture, mirrors and chandeliers. Lobmeyer 1823, Helles Glas und klares Licht, p. 102 For the chandeliers executed by Prof. Haertl for the Bundeskanzleramt in Vienna, 103, cf. ill. 50, cf. ill. 195; p 104; for the cooperation of Prof. Haertl and Prof. Schwanzer, who designed the lavish crystal chandelier of the Österreich-Haus in New York and the chandeliers for the premises of Rositta in Vienna; p. 302. In 1925 Oswald Haertl developed contemporary hanging designs; p. 310. Oswald Heartl was one of the greatest chandelier designers of Modernism.
