clear glass, 33 pieces: 1 jug with stopper height 38.5 cm, 1 jug without stopper height 27 cm, 1 carafe with stopper height 23.5 cm, 6 champagne flutes height 20.5 cm, 6 red wine glasses height 18 cm, 6 white wine glasses height 17 cm, 6 aperitif glasses height 15 cm, 6 liqueur or schnaps glasses height 10.5 cm, side with facetted spherical and diamond cut decoration, base with star shaped cut décor and etched mark, Cristallerie Saint Louis, France, second half of the 20th century, “Tommy” model, designed in 1928 (Ru)

The hand-blown, hand-cut crystal glasses are elaborately manufactured and rich in detail. The production of a glass takes ten days and employs ten glassblowers for the shape and five glass cutters for the cut decoration. Their fame is based on a legendary dinner in the year 1938: on the occasion of a visit by King George VI the place of each guest in the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles was laid with 11 glasses from the “Tommy” series.
