Josef Hoffmann, 12-piece cutlery service, designed in Vienna, c. 1902/03, - Jugendstil and 20th Century Arts and Crafts

consisting of: 6 knives and 6 forks; knife handles and forks made of silver; marked with silver purity hallmark Diana’s head (800) and B & Z; length of knife: 23 cm; length of fork: 20.8 cm. According to information supplied by the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), the present cutlery service was designed by Josef Hoffmann for the Kohn family. A comparable cutlery service was executed by Alexander Sturm for Lydia Wittgenstein (c. 1906). (MP)
