Provenance:
In the years between 1925 and 1937, Josef Hoffmann offered this vase by Lucie Rie-Gomperz as a gift to the current owner’s grandparents, who lived in Chicago until 1937. The owner’s family entertained a friendly relationship with Hoffmann and other artists. The vase has been in his family’s ownership until today. It has been kept in Germany since 1937 and passed through the family to the present owner.
