An archaicising bronze vase, China, Qing dynasty, 18th cent.
Pear-shaped body on a gently everted foot, decorated with three horizontal bands ornamented with finely cast, archaic bird, lion and cicada motifs, two handles in the shape of taotie-like masks with loose rings. Cast mark to base: ‘Wan shou zun ding, zizi sunsun yong bao yong zhi’ (Vase of Long Life [kept by the children and grandchildren like an eternal treasure). Height: 21.8 cm. (BA)
