Two miniature altarpieces with small figures respectively of a Buddha and Bodhisattva. China, Tang dynasty
Bronze cast as one piece, fire-gilt. Standing on a four-legged pedestal, a) Buddha Shakyamuni with nimbus around his head, his right hand raised in abayamudra, his left holding the tip of his garment. Height: 6.2 cm. b) Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara (Chinese: Guanyin), a lotus flower in his raised right hand, in his left hand, hanging to his side, a vase containing nectar. Nimbus broken away. Height: 7.7 cm. (BA)
