Platinum 950, white gold 750, an old-cut diamond c. 2.30 ct, old-cut brilliants total weight c. 3.20 ct, old-cut and octagonal diamonds total weight c. 7 ct, baguette and whistle-cut diamonds total weight c. 2.50 ct double pin with safety fastening, French hallmark as of 1847, maker's mark Atelier Groene et Darde 1928-1955, 29.2 g, old-cut diamond with slight chipping Diamond brooch Suzanne Belperron is among the most renowned jewellery designers of the 20th century, born on 26.9.1900, after concluding the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Besançon she began her career in the year 1919 as a designer with René Boivin in Paris. In 1932 she switched to Bernard Herz, in whose house she remained active in various functions with her creative and unique designs until 1975. Her international and illustrious clientèle included not only the Duchess of Windsor, but also artists such as Josephine Baker, Charles Boyer and Jean Cocteau. The jewellery atelier Groene et Darde exclusively created Suzanne Belperron’s designs with supreme technical skills. (AF)
