Sold for the benefit of the “Junge Burg”.
When the Burgtheater’s stage floor was exchanged for a new one in 2011, the old floorboards, dating from 1955, were kept in storage. Some of them have now been used for the present table, complemented by a brass plaque. It bears an engraved quote from Franz Grillparzer’s play “King Ottokar, His Rise and Fall”, which was performed on the then-new stage on the occasion of the Burgtheater’s reopening in 1955. Attila Hörbiger played the leading role in 1955, Michael Maertens in the 2005 production.
