Roman Kvita is a studying Product Design Studio under the tutelage of Michal Froněk and Jan Němeček at the VŠUP in Prague. He focuses on glass and industrial design. In 2013, he began his collaboration with the Nachtmann Glassworks, for which he designed the Sphere collection, made from moulded glass. The vase on offer was made at the beginning of 2013 as a top craft prototype entitled Vase 01. The author of this collection looked into the possibilities of cutting glass with a wheel. The result was an organic structure of irregular sector spheres that permeate one another and so create an impressive, changing grid. This creative process was designed for the technology of moulded glass and the vase on offer is part of the story of how the collection was created. Sphere won the Red Dot award for product design and the Bayerischer Staatpreis award in 2014. It’s currently in the manufacture program of the Nachtmann Glassworks.
