period of Emperor Francis I or Ferdinand I, 78 cm blade of lenticular cross section, polished, with spotting, gilt knuckle-bow hilt, the down-turned guard plate with eagle's head finials and crowned double-headed eagle, shield with the initials FI, the knuckle-bow with oak leaves, lion's head pommel, engraved grip mount, engraved mother of pearl grip panels, both sides with crowned shield with the initials FI, black leather sheath with engraved gilt fittings and heart-shaped suspension button, the leather scabbard broken and with significant crazing, otherwise very good condition (He)
