c. 241 x 200 cm, 18th century, a very similar piece was auctioned at the Dorotheum in September 2014, fragment of a museum-quality hand knotted carpet with Harshang pattern, where the blossoms are separated by a blue line in a sort of lattice and brightened up by an unprecedented main border in archaic form, for which no comparative examples are known; on the grounds of its wool foundation, the present carpet could also have been manufactured in the Caucasus, the original length of the carpet must have been around five meters, today it preserves its full width, several edge damages, at the upper end the main border with the narrow, small outer border is no longer existent, in the lower section the fragment is reduced by more than half, the wool in the dark brown background is heavily oxidised, partly bare with some flaws, entirely mounted on linen fabric with passepartout.
