East Anatolia (Turkey), c. 85 x 68 cm, about 1900, the exact origin and actual use of “small rugs” such as the present one cannot be fully reconstructed, its pattern, feel, symmetrical knots, coarse knotting and wool foundation suggest a Kurdish, peasant origin from the area around Lake Van, thick pile wool, in the upper section the weft thread changes its colour from red to white and ivory, original edges and ends.
