Shirvan kilim, - Oriental Carpets, Textiles and Tapestries

East Caucasus, c. 295 x 158 cm, about 1870, although Palas kilims with classic horizontal hexagonal stripes are very easy to find, the present item visibly distinguishes itself from others from the same group, in slit technique with many brocaded areas, with naive four-legged figures, more space between the pattern series and a covered colour patina, the present item is a very early representative of this group, minor damage to the field with several repairs, edge and end damage.
