Paul Troger - Property from Aristocratic Estates and Important Provenance

(1698-1762) circle Mary of the Victory, oil on canvas, 44,5 x 25 cm, framed (GS)

This painting is based on the altar picture by Troger in the parish church of Platt bei Zellerndorf (formerly St. Niklas, Vienna, then in the church of St. Laurenz on Schottenfeld, Vienna). Cf. J. Kronbichler, Paul Troger 1698-1762, Berlin-München 2012, p. 330, no. 139. Numerous contemporary copies and free interpretations were made, as well as a copper engraving of 1756 by G. Schwab.
Troger‘s sketch for the altar picture has been lost.
