Rare early Baroque four-seasons cabinet,
Probably Augsburg area, late 17th century. A divisible pine cabinet with a black finish, flame mouldings, carved acanthus leaf applications, mouldings and pads veneered in oiled burlwood, canted angles, two doors with oval moulded lacquer panels depicting the four seasons, a pierced carved acanthus leaf upper section with a depiction of a religious scene. 245 x 202 x 77 cm. Some later black staining and gold painting undertaken during several restorations. Some small losses. (PZ)
