‘After a detail from the oil painting Abstraktes Bild dated 1990 (CR of paintings: no. 724–4). The painting’s motif was broken down into 4096 vertical segments on the computer, each the height of the image. The number on the reverse of the print indicates which of these segments was randomly selected by the artist for it to be reflected multiple times, creating a geometrical, repeating pattern of long, horizontal strips. As each print is based on a different vertical segment, each sheet displays a different pattern of colours.’ (Butin/Gronert/Olbricht, p. 320)
