Mixed lot (2 items): New Guinea: Two sago scrapers of cassowary bone.
On New Guinea, by means of such scrapers of cassowary bone, with flat, rounded tips, the white marrow of the felled sago palm was scraped out from the interior of the tree trunk. For the processing of the favourite food staple (sago flour).
Both tools are very similarly crafted, one scraper is of larger size, the other smaller, and both display a very good, old and shiny usage patina. No damage.
