1: A typical Arabian ‘Wahabite Jambiya’ (curved dagger or shortsword), with slightly curved, double-edged iron blade with middle ridge.
The hilt consists of brown horn, with decorative silver bands, granulated silver spheres, two silver roses, a mounted red glass gem, brass bands and a brass plate on the back.
The wooden sheath is also decorated with three silver cuffs (two of which with soldered ornamental bands made of silver, whilst the middle cuff is engraved), with a piece of sheet brass and a mounted red glass stone. Remains of red leather mount and sheet iron on the reverse. L: 60 cm.
2: An Ottoman knife with finely forged, single-edged blade fullered on both sides. Decorated with hallmarked stars and notches on the back. The hilt is entirely enveloped in filigree décor consisting of small rings and straight bands of silver wire, silver plates and spheres and roses, and with five red imitation stones.
The sheath consists of sheet silver adorned with an embossed decoration of leafy tendrils and triangles. With a finial of twisted copper wire. L: 23 cm.
Both objects: Between the 19th and the early 20th centuries. (ME)
