The Somalis live in Somalia, northern Kenya and in the Ogaden Desert in eastern Ethiopia. They use this relatively large type of neckrest (occasionally also as a stool). Made of wood, coloured red, the lateral ends turned upwards in a semicircular shape. Incised linear decoration on both external sides.
First half to mid-20th century; H: 23 cm, W: 31 cm. (ME)
