An early realisation of this model, manufactured by the silversmiths of the Danish court jeweller A. Michelsen. Originally designed for the restaurants of the SAS Hotel in Copenhagen, it was later produced in series by Georg Jensen. Its avant-gardist form prompted Stanley Kubrick to use it in his science fiction movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.
