Yomut central carpet, - Oriental Carpets, Textiles and Tapestries

West Turkestan, c. 280 x 160 cm, mid-19th century or earlier, the field pattern with chuval gul and cross-shaped secondary motifs is very rare for central carpets and can found mostly on Turkmen bag faces, very finely knotted and with bright colours, kilim ends no longer preserved, consistently very low pile with some exposed warp threads and a large darned area on the upper elem, edges rebound and with some flaws.
