The present painting seems to be the second version of a portrait dated to 1801 now in the Bremen Kunsthalle.
The paper mill operated by Pachner from 1793 onwards was one of the largest in the entire empire. It produced more than 100 different grades of paper and supplied paper with security printing for the k. k. Banco-Zettel-Hauptkasse and for several banknotes issued by the Imperial and Royal National Bank.
