Gorbatovs depicted autumn landscapes with a group of trees on a hill or on the bank of a lake as early as the 1910s. The painter clearly loved this motif since he used it many times, particularly in the 1930s. Although Gorbatovs never exactly repeated himself but, rather, slightly varied the composition and changed small details.
The picture is being included in the catalogue raisonné of Konstantin Gorbatov which is currently being compiled.
