biscuit porcelain, to the centre stands Apollo with his lyre surrounded by allegories of the fine arts, architecture, poetry, music and sculpture with their various attributes, circular group modelled in-the-round, circular stone base, height 45 cm, Ø 27 cm, some restoration to right arm of Architecture and elsewhere, short firing cracks, model after Rachette, St. Petersburg, unmarked circa 1800–1810, (Ru)

Dominique Antoine Jacques Rachette, Valencay 22.12.1744–1809 St. Petersburg, sculptor and porcelain modeller, pupil at the Copenhagen and Paris Academies, married in 1765 in Copenhagen, was in Hamburg from 1776–79, was called to St. Petersburg in 1779, initially working as a modelling master at the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory; designed the famous Arabesque Service for Catherine II, and Russian folk types, appointed professor in 1800. His works are to be found in the Hermitage, in princely palaces, churches and Russian palaces;
