porcelain, cover and vase with ultramarine body, cover with pinecone finial, acanthus leaf wreath and fluted rim, strips and diagonal bands to upper and lower image edge, lower portion with large acanthus leaf frieze, square plinth with palmettes frieze, baluster encompassed by polychrome-painted lake landscape, smoke rising from Vesuvius, the Bay of Naples, sailing boats, fishing boats and bathers, the Certosa di San Martino and an idealised view of Roman ruins, peasants, shepherds, sheep, mules and cows, height 108 cm, upper strip a little loose, St. Petersburg, overglaze blue mark to underside of foot for Tsar Nicholas I, 1825–1855 with blue digits 2.4.% (Ru)
