reddish-brown Böttger stoneware, oval body and cover with finely impressed borders of circles, meander patterns, flowers and waves, rows of 6-petalled flowers and Oriental décor, semi-sculptural ball décor framed with Oriental leaves, handle with integral hook, fine spout, base ring and 4 small feet, height 12.5 cm, Meissen, circa 1708, incised 6-pointed star, 2 terminals dividing to become 4 and other triangular terminals (Ru)

Lit.: Rainer Rückert, Biographische Daten der Meißener Manufakturisten des 18. Jh., Kapitel VII Böttgers Mitarbeiter, p. 78, “... the marks illustrated can be found on 3 teapots made in Böttger stoneware in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg... they probably match Gottfried Lohse’s mark, p. 85... It is likely that he was working for Böttger from September 1708 at the house of Dr Bartholomaei, who made an advance on the fee paid.
