Cornelis Janssens van Ceulen was an English portrait painter of Netherlandish and Flemish origin. In 1643 he moved to Middelburg in the Netherlands. Between 1646 and 1653 he lived in Amsterdam, before he settled in Utrecht. Jannsens painted many portraits of the English aristocracy. It was his specialty to render the garment of the sitters with utmost care and precision.
