A votive stupa in bronze
Sino-Tibetan, late 19th/early 20th century. The so-called lion throne standing on a two-stepped, square base, to all sides ornamented with depictions of the three jewels and two lions in relief. Above which a dome, resting on a five-stepped, mandala-shaped platform, decorated with monster masks spewing strings of jewels. To one side set within a shrine window a relief of the Buddha. Above the dome, the pinnacle of the stupa with 13 rings, surmounted by an umbrella, topped by a sickle moon and a jewel. The removable shrine window can be used as a mould for tsa-tsa. Base with seal. Height: 25.5 cm. (BA)
