Provenance:
Private Ownership, Germany

In 1983, Staudacher wrote that he, by referring to a manifesto from the 1950s, wished to begin ‘an ever fresh painting and poetry … one of physical values and words – using nothing but its mimes, movements, plays, theatre, songs, and speeds’ and added: ‘This is also what, in our time, will remain in its pulsating place, in its location without concrete dimensions, while keeping its inner liberty, something that comprehends that it is futile to speak, narrate, or describe… My own cries will blend in with those of you like-minded skunks so that they will mutually inspire each other and combine to form a silent power. Then painting and poetry will no longer narrate, but act!’
Doris Schmidt, June 1991, from: Hans Staudacher, Schrift und Geste, Die fünfziger Jahre, Galerie Klewan, 1991
