West Persia (Iran), c. 532 x 345 cm, about 1930, in the dozens of small, mostly rustic villages around Hamadan, carpets are manufactured everywhere; items such as the present one, which are traded under the name “sharbaft” (=“knotted in town”), were knotted for the American market and are characterised by an especially valuable wool quality; these items are rare to find and are often mistaken for carpets from Qazvin, Northwest Persia (Iran); mint condition without any defects.
