Vienna, c. 1905, maple veneer, black stained accents in the frame, with inlaid decoration in mother-of-pearl, white metal, nickel plated brass lamps decorated with cut glass rods and prisms, wall system: height 208 cm, total length 970 cm, depth 2.5 cm; double bed: length 205 cm, width 219 cm, height 120 cm; two bedside cabinets and two drawer elements: each height 75 cm, 37 x 37.5 cm; chest of drawers: height 99 cm, width 79.5 cm, depth 51 cm; two small display cabinets with pendant lights: height 90 cm, width 31 cm, depth 22 cm. Provenance:
from a prominent private collection in Vienna, until 2014; purchased in the early 1960s by the Viennese gallery owner Kurt Kalb. According to Kurt Kalb, the furnishings originally came from a room in a palace in Vienna’s Metternichgasse that was decorated by leading artists of the Vienna Secession between 1905 and 1910, including, among others, Josef Hoffmann and Kolo Moser.
