Saryk torba, - Oriental Carpets, Textiles and Tapestries

West Turkestan, c. 37 x 124 cm, around 1900, the diagonal arrangement of hexagons with mystical interior motif is called “shemle” decoration and has many similarities with the Salor pieces of the "S” group, the use of cotton in the light parts of the pattern is not unusual for Saryk workmanship and lends the piece substantial presence, good pile condition with folded kilim ends on both sides and remains of blue fringing, left edge trimmed and re-sewed.
