West Persia (Iran), c. 190 x 122 cm, around 1930. Pictorial carpet in symmetrical arrangement with scenes from the “Shahnameh” or the “Book of Kings” with Persian legends. The warrior “Rostam” with his horse “Rakhsh” is one its best-known heroes, fighting demons in the name of good against evil. The remaining surface divided with hunters, dragons, dogs and several animals, along with the inscription, could not be interpreted. This piece is preserved in good condition with deep pile wool. Both fringes are replaced. A small hole on the left upper corner could be easily stitched. (MA)
