probably Scotland, c. 336 x 160 cm, second half of the 19th century, feather-light precious textile manufactured on a Jacquard loom, on the grounds of its pattern design and weaving structure the shawl is most likely of Scottish origin, however as this piece has no initials this origin is not absolutely certain, “Kashmir” scarves were also produced in France as well as other European countries due to high demand, with a black central field and delicate surrounding pattern this piece is in good condition.
