Mixed lot (2 items), Tibet: Two so-called women’s knives decorated with silver, coral and turquoises.
1: A women’s knife, with a blade of local iron. The hilt is made of iron and black horn. With a silver band and a cast silver plate with volutes. On top of this, a coral pearl set in silver. The sheath is cloaked with engraved iron, silver bands, brass and a piece of ray skin. Decorated with a silver plate with volutes, on which are a coral and a turquoise. L: 23.6 cm.
2: A women’s knife, with imported blade. The bone hilt features a turquoise stone and is set in silver. The sheath is cloaked in cast leafy tendrils and engraved silver, as well as a piece of ray skin. Two coral pearls and a blue stone. L: 18.5 cm.
Both objects: between the 19th and the early 20th centuries. (ME)
