The anterior, black surface is decorated with all-round bands made of punched and etched, star-shaped spike and line patterns. Along the thick rim were originally eight ornaments, made of wide brass bands, each with three spikes (two lost). On the backside is a thick, black, semicircular grip made of leather attached by means of leather bands.
A beautiful, old piece with good usage patina (grip!) and minor age-related damage (a puncture due to a spear, with holes from an old original repair). 19th century to the first third of the 20th century; DM: c. 60 cm. (ME)
